Dr. Ibrahim Wada is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist as well as an IVF specialist at Nisa Premier Hospital, which he founded in 1996.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1980.
Then completed his Housemanship at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) the following year. From there he began his specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology still at JUTH in 1982.
In 1986, he left for the UK to continue his specialist training at Addenbrooke’s Teaching Hospital, Cambridge and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital UK, King’s Lynn Norfolk.
He earned his specialist postgraduate degree in O & G in February 1988 and became a member of the prestigious Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, London at his first attempt.
Dr. Wada has had several career achievements as well such as the birth of “Baby Hannatu”, Nigeria’s first-ever government-certified test-tube baby in 1998.
His Nisa team was also the first IVF team in Nigeria to produce a living test tube baby from an embryo that had been kept frozen for more than four months. Moreover, he has held several notable positions including Chief Consultant O & G and Director of Clinical Services at National Hospital Abuja and CEO of Garki Hospital Abuja.
The Federal Government of Nigeria bestowed on him the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) national award in 2006. Dr. Wada has published 16 scientific papers in international journals.
