Dr. Kabir Abubakar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and the Head of the Spine Unit at the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH), Dala-Kano, Nigeria.
He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he attended from 1984 to 1989.
He is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and the Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (F.A.O.ASIF). He is also a member of various learned societies including the Nigerian Orthopaedic Association (NOA), Societe Internationale Chirurgie Orthopédique de Traumatologie (SICOT), German Tropical Surgical Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS).
Dr. Abubakar’s publications and papers include Spinal Injuries in Kano – A 10 Year Review, Nigerian Orthopaedic Association Annual Conference, Kaduna 2000, Pedicle Screw Fixation in Kano (Case Report) – Nigerian Orthopaedic Association AGM/Scientific Conference – 3rd December 2005, Management of Neglected Spinal Injuries – Conference of the Association of Resident Doctors NOH Dala Kano – 16th March 2006, and Social & Economic Cost of Low Back Pain plus Medical Management – Conference of Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy, Kano Chapter – 6th April 2006. Besides his position at NOH, he is also the current president of the Nigerian Spine Society.
