Dr. Saleem Dawood is an Interventional Cardiologist who practices at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Mediclinic Milnerton, and Mediclinic Constantiaberg all in Cape Town.
He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from the University of Natal in 1992. He excelled in the specialist exams and was awarded the M.M. SUZMAN MEDAL by the College of medicine of S.A. for the top candidate in South Africa to sit the specialist examination in 2007. He trained as a cardiologist at Groote Schuur Hospital and was registered as a cardiologist in 2000.
Dr. Dawood is considered an international expert on antiplatelet therapy in cardiovascular disease. He is regularly invited to speak at international meetings and conferences where he also presents academic papers.
He is the sole South African representative on the international advisory boards for platelet inhibitors, Prasugrel and Ticagrelor. Dr. Darwood sits on the international pharmaceutical advisory boards for Lilly, Bayer, and AstraZeneca. He also serves as a consultant on local advisory boards for Boehringer Ingelheim, Cipla, Bayer, AstraZeneca, Lilly, MSD, and Pharma Dynamics.
