Dr. Shaaheen Bismilla is an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Springs Parkland Hospital, Springs, Gauteng. He completed his medical degree at the University of Pretoria (UP) in 2008.
After which he did his internship at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria, where he rotated through several specialties including internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and surgery.
Dr. Bismilla then completed his community service year at the same hospital in 2011. During this time, he completed his primary examination through the Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa (FCS(SA) and was awarded the Trubshaw Medal.
In 2012, Dr. Bismilla was the Medical Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital, where he worked in the ICU and Trauma wards.
He completed the Advanced Trauma Life Support training program the same year. He was then accepted as a Registrar in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wits university after completing a Basic Trauma course through the AO Foundation in 2013.
The position saw him rotate through Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, and Helen Josephs Hospital.
Dr. Bismal gained his fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Orth(SA) in October 2016 and obtained his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2017.
