Dr. Kombe is a Paediatrician and Gastroenterologist at Aga Khan University, Nairobi. She is also the hospital’s current Program Director for the Department of Paediatrics & Child Health.
She attended the University of Nairobi, where she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery programme in 2002 and Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health in 2010.
Next came a two-year fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Red Cross War Memorial Hospital, Cape Town from April 2013 to May 2015. She obtained a subspecialty certificate from the College of Medicine of South Africa in 2015.
Before her fellowship, Dr. Kombe worked as a General Pediatrician and Instructor at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi from May 2010 to March 2013. And following her fellowship, she returned to the same hospital as a paediatric gastroenterologist still under the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health.
Although she currently has no publications, she has various research interests, including hepatitis B, food allergy, inflammatory bowel disease in Africa, and functional GI disorders and their interaction with the microbiota.
Dr. Kombe is also a board member of the Allergy Society of Kenya (ASOK), an active member of the Kenya Paediatric Association (KPA), and a corresponding member of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN). She was a recipient of the 2013 ESPGHAN fellowship scholarship award and an ESPGHAN travel award in 2016.
